Memorial Hospital Navarre
Memorial Hospital's Navarre Medical Office Building was designed and built in the late 1990's by another Design and Construction Team. The brick facade across the building was failing and Memorial Hospital was forced to pursue litigation over the spalling brick.
As part of the investigation during the litigation, it was determined that the brick would be replaced along with reevaluating the detailing of the drainage cavity. Creative Design Solutions was brought in to perform the inspection of the existing conditions, determine a coordinated solution, and provide biddable documentation to replace and remedy the issues.
Special Features / Conditions
The existing masonry cavity design did not provide adequate drainage design including drainage protection the absence of an air cavity, improper flashing, mortar protection and weep locations. Creative Design Solutions had to recommend and design an acceptable solution that would work with portions of the facade that were not being replaced; in some instances this meant that the depth and width of the replacement brick areas were larger than those remaining. Aesthetically, this is one of the main structures on Campus and is the focal point when traveling from the downtown to the Hospital. We were able to provide a final solution that looks like it was the original design, but one that will last for decades into the future.
